Give Where You Live. Layne Beachley.

Give Geelong Appeal (Layne Beachley, thanks for sharing your story!)

3 days of Giving. We urge you to get behind the Give Geelong Appeal.

Thursday 20, Friday 21 and Saturday 22 May, 2021.

Supporting the Geelong community has been at the heart of the Give Where You Live Foundation’s work for the past 67 years.

Community connections are what keeps a community strong and builds resilience that assists people to cope with the ups and downs that life throws at all of us.

These connections matter to us all now more than ever and they matter especially for those who are already vulnerable.

All funds raised by the Give Geelong Appeal will help OUR COMMUNITY stay connected, stay together and stay strong.

You can make your donation directly to the appeal online now

Give Geelong Breakfast

The Give Geelong Appeal was launched at the Give Geelong Breakfast with guest presenter, Layne Beachley.  An impressive 500 (yes 500!) people packed the room at GMHBA Stadium for an early start.

This shows two things: the people of Geelong are getting out and about again AND they are willing to support our community.

Layne Beachley and Daleene Kroger

Thanks to PRA Partner and Deputy Chair GWYL Community Foundation, Daleene Kroger for hosting a table to support the cause. PRA representatives and guests enjoyed an early start to the morning, (totally worth it), to hear an inspiring Layne Beachely.

7-time world champion, Layne, is widely regarded as the most successful surfer in history. The only surfer to claim six consecutive world titles, Layne’s story is the testimony to the power of self-belief.

A traumatic childhood ignited a flame of desperation to prove she was worthy of love. Layne’s affinity for the ocean and competition created the perfect storm to achieve her dream of becoming the best of the best.

Her career was an emotional rollercoaster of happiness, injury, adventure, depression, failure and ultimately, success.

What an incredible morning and to top it off, our very own Receptionist, Trish Irwin won 4th prize in the raffle and will be heading to King of the Castle for a lovely luncheon!

Thanks Give Where You Live. We are pleased to support your worthy cause.
